Watercolor Painting Supplies

Watercolor paints in Pans are a popular, choice for artists of all levels. These solid, dried blocks of color are activated with water and come in both half-pan and full-pan sizes in various sets.

Watercolor Paints in Tubes are available to purchase individually or in sets.

Brushes in Synthetic or Natural hair, Here's a few examples you may use for loose to detailed work

  • Round brushes (sizes 4, 6, 8, 10, 12) – for most techniques
  • Flat or wash brushes (1"–2") – for large areas
  • Rigger/liner brush – for fine lines and branches
  • Mop brush – for soft washes and blending

  • Any other colors you have ,bring them along to class! There are so many extra variation of colors on the market, but you do not need to purchase them all as we'll be mixing from the Primary Colors

  • I like using the basic Primary colors and then mix Secondary colors, and Tertiary hues and we'll learn to develop cool and warm colors from these creating a chart for reference for future paintings.

    Paper Suggestions

  • 100% cotton watercolor paper, practice of 90 lbs , and Final Papers 140 lbs
  • Cold press (most versatile)
  • Hot press (smooth, great for detail)
  • Rough (texture lovers)
  • Papers you can use are varied but a Cold Press or smooth Hot Press paper of 9 x 12 size and 140lb for final work is good for reworking and it holds up well. Students may want to work larger or smaller, your choice.
